Struggling a bit

countryIn Literacy we had to go on a brainstorming site that gave us three things or places to wright a story about!!! My three are Competition, jungle and Married couple so I hope you like my story!!!

My chin started to wobble as I walked down the isle of an old vintage church on the country side I saw him there my soon to be Husband on the wall we had a slide show going with are favourite photos with are favourite song playing ”your beautiful” by James Blunt as he said the word I do I did not even have to think of what to say I was so in love that I said I do very quickly and kissed him my name used to be Kate Sonyson and now I am Married to my Husband John Barrlos my name is Kate Barrlos and now we are ridding back home in are Dotson 12y.

We  where not having a honeymoon or a reception because we are as we say struggling a bit or we where poor as you would say.all we have is a 1 story 1 bed room house with a small kitchen and a T.v with 2 pillows we found while going for a walk  to sit on.

We are sitting down after a big day drinking the only bottle of bear we have owned for 5 years an old Guinness stout we thought that we would bring it out for the special occasion when on the T.V we saw an add for a jungle survivor competition and we see adds like this all the time so we did not even think anything about it but then we heard the word 20.000 dollars for the winner I  looked across to the T.V that’s right 20,000 dollars for the winner of ”Jungle Survivor!!!”

”John we need that money I mean we should be on a holiday in Britain but instead we are stuck in our old rundown country side house” I said.’

‘Yes we need the money but we can’t survive in the jungle for 3 whole weeks honey so why don’t we go for a nice long walk and see if we find anything or not. OK?”

Fine I said and went to go get my well our only jumper and pair of slippers that had a hole in the the right foot toe right where Johns big toe pocked out.

As we got back from our walk on the long country side road well it’s not really a  road more of a dirt patch that had been trod en on or run over by a car Lot’s of times John went to bed and so did I but I could not stop hearing that man.”Yes that’s right 20,000 Dollars for the winner!!!!”

The next morning John went to his usual job standing as still as he can looking like a statue and frighteningpeople as the walked past and if he was lucky they would put a couple of coins in his hat that lay on the bumpy side walk the only one  for miles of the country. But some people thought he was scary and did not even smile as they walked pasedt I guess that we can not ask for too much money when a job like that does not need that much skill but still it buys us a cabbage a week sometimes only every two weeks I don’t know how sometimes that we paid for the weeding we always put 1 coin from each of his days at work into that jar took us 5 years to save up.

So I was doing my usual tidying and making cabbage soup which is just cabbage and water. We make the soup up inn the fields where there is an old fire with some fresh straw put in it each week because the farmer knows that we a struggling a bitso I am walking back and still can’t stop thinking about that 20,000 Dollars so I got home and wrote an entry form even though every form I have sent to get money has been rejected but I just have one of those gut feelings so I went to the only post box in the country gave it a kiss and put it in.”This better work if John finds out that I used the last stamp on this competitiont on his mums birthday who thinks that we are living on a hideaway Island with a 2 story house with a pool so to them they would think that we could afford a couple of stamps but as I keep saying we are struggling a bit.

Three weeks past of doing the same thing waking up, Eating some soup, John goes to work and I clean whie thinking about not  the cabbage soup anymore  as Johns work had hit an all time low but that entry form that I kissed and sent away.

Soon after late that afternoon we received a letter John had come home and checked the mail and came running in ”Kate Kater” He said.We have got a letter!!! See we don’t get many letters there are no junk mail as there is only one shop that has the essentials and that’s it I reckon I could name everything in that shop on my fingers and toes and of course occasion letter for from the parents who think that we are rich!!!

”Open it open it” I said

OK so that is the start of my story so now you guys have to make up an 100 word finish to it and will judge the best one!!!

So start typing and have fun!!!

Seems like this couple are going on an incredible honeymoon.

    I like Kate. She’s a strong character.

    Cabbage soup!

John opened the envelope. It was full of gold leaf. I slowly anticipated that it was going to grow mouldy. I didn’t want to give up our shared dream of going to the jungle.

“We will never go hungry again,” John said as we went through a market in a tropical country. The jungle was growing closer and closer all the time; but so were the nightmares. I began to feel the flushes when we were in our mosquito net.

John didn’t understand at all. He was seeing business opportunities everywhere. His eyes were gleaming with ambition.

    Then it came.

    Sarah,
What a fantastic storyline! You painted a great picture through the words you used. Paragraphing is well done as is use of dialogue.

I think it is great to get your readers to finish the story for you. I wonder how exciting and creative these endings will be!

Be careful of are / our, bear / beer, passed / past

Perhaps a few more fullstops would make it easier for your viewers to read the story.

I excitedly opened the letter, inside was piece of paper with a gold edge and black writing. The writing said “Dear Kate Barrlos, I am excited to inform you that you have finished runner-up in our competition, which means that you are to be eligible for a years survival training on our beautiful Company Owned Island, and if any of our competition winners drop out of the competition you are the next to be chosen.” Kate was very excited at teh thought of this as they could rent theor home out for money (that they had little of) and they could live on a beautiful island together and also have all of their living expenses paid whilst learning a skill. Kate and her Husband never did return to their bedraggled old home, Kate become a world famous chef to the stars on deserted islands, making wonderful healthy food out of basic ingredients, and John went on to be a famous mime artist and he and Kate flew around teh world working and enjoying their life. Kate still mended socks that had holes in them as she had learnt to waste not want not and John still occasionally did statue work but gave any money that he made to charity as finally they had both made it!!

    Hey Sarah,
This is a good story! I like it. Kate is a really good character. Only thing is that you kinda needed bit more commas and full stops, lol. (: xx♥
